Paced by a number of wins in individual events, including three by freshman
Rick Sutton, the Albright College men's swimming team earned its seventh consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon with a 149-113 conference victory over Lycoming.
Sean Spellacy got things started for the Lions in the 1000 free, finishing in 10:39.78 while being followed by teammate
Zach McElheny.
Sutton then took his first victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.36 and two teammates,
Matt Bauer and
Mike McBride, finished right behind in second and third for the sweep.
The streak of 1-2 finishes continued as RJ Porrazo captured first in the 100 back, and
Stephen Thomas finished in second.
After Lycoming took first in the 100 breaststroke,
Adam Kurtz got the Lions back on track with a first place finish of 2:06.00 in the 200 butterfly. McElheny recorded another second place finish in the event with a time of 2:07.87.
Three events later, Thomas took the win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.37. Sutton then captured his second and third victories of the day with strong finishes in the 500 free and 400 IM. Spellacy took second in the 500 free while Thomas did the same in the 400 IM.
Albright is now 7-1 and 5-0 in the MAC. They return to action on January 7 with a non-conference meet against Ocean County College.
