READING, Pa. – In their first home conference match of 2011, the Lions (0-4/0-2 Commonwealth) were shut out by the visiting Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (5-4/1-0 Commonwealth) by the score of 9-0 Saturday afternoon at the Albright Tennis Courts.
Having the busiest afternoon for the red and white was
Ian Moore, who forced a tie-breaker with Dylan Haefner. Moore and Haefner battled back and forth to decide the winner of the fifth flight. After a 7-6, 6-2 finish to the first two sets, Haefner would go on to earn a 7-2 decision to take the win.
Moore along with
Mike Callahan also put up the biggest fight at third doubles. The two dropped a tough 8-4 match to Josh Riehl and Eric Fritzges. Elizabethtown cruised to 8-0 wins at first and second doubles to start the afternoon.
In singles play that continued to run the table earning 6-0, 6-0 wins at second, third, fourth, and sixth singles. Callahan fell in the first singles match by the final of 6-0, 6-1.
Men's tennis returns to action on Wednesday when they host Penn State Abington at 3 p.m. on the Albright Tennis Courts.
