READING, Pa. – Men's tennis closed out their 2011 spring schedule Tuesday afternoon against cross-town opponent Penn State Berks. The visiting Nittany Lions (8-5) handed Albright an 8-1 non-conference loss. With Tuesday's loss, the red and white end the year with a record 0-10, 0-6 in the Commonwealth Conference.
Tuesday's match also marked the final one for lone senior
Jason Lefkoe, who during his four-years appeared in a total of 39 matches. Lefkoe along with teammate
Ian Moore dropped a close 8-6 second doubles decision to start off the day. He would later be handed a 6-3, 6-1 fourth singles loss by Bradley Kale.
Earning, the Lions only win was
Joe Monzo in an extremely close fifth singles match. Monzo went toe-to-toe with Berks' Joshua Konz and eventually edged his non-conference opponent 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. Having as close of match as Monzo was
Chris Harkins, who fell to Cody Schreiner by the final of 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Kenneth Ip had a strong first set to start his singles play, but it was Tim Ko who had the final say as she shutout Ip in set two, 6-0.
Just like their female counterparts, the future looks bright for men's tennis as they will welcome back a more experienced group for the 2011-12 campaign.
