Zach McElheny had a part in three of four Lion 1-2-3 sweeps as the Albright College men's swimming team defeated Misericordia, 156-106 on Saturday.
In the 1000 free, McElheny won in 10:46.38 and
Sean Spellacy was second, relegating teammate and defending MAC Swimmer of the Week
Rick Sutton to third place.
Adam Kurtz soon led another 1-2-3 Albright sweep in the 200 fly, winning in 2:03.84. McElheny was second and new transfer Adam Vogel took third place.
McElheny led yet another 1-2-3 Lion performance in the 500 free. His time of 5:06.99 was followed by Spellacy and
Matt Bauer.
Vogel won the 200 IM in 2:06.57, with
Josh Park and Bauer taking second and third place, respectively.
Ralph Porrazzo won two individual races, taking the 200 free in 1:50.74 and also touching the wall first in the 200 back (Sutton was second).
Other Albright winners were Park in the 200 breast (2:20.94) and Kurtz in the 100 fly (54.86).
While the meet was already decided at this point, there was some excitement in the closing 400 free relay as Porrazzo,
Tim Pierce, Kurtz and
Mike McBride won by a margin of just .06 seconds.
Albright improves to 9-1, and 6-0 against MAC opposition. The Lions will host Elizabethtown on Thursday.
