The Albright College field hockey team held their own Wednesday against nationally-ranked Messiah College, eventually losing 3-1 to the #12 Falcons in Grantham, Pa.
Freshman
Jessie Leonardis scored on a deep shot 28 minutes into the game, as Albright totaled three first half shots and trailed just 2-1 at the break.
The Lion defense was solid, allowing just eight total shots on goal, but Messiah got the clinching tally with 18 minutes to play.
Emily Bower followed up a rebound for the third goal.
Juliana Hershey opened the scoring for Messiah, and
Heather Quirk made it 2-0, just five minutes before Leonardis' strike.

Marguerite DeLucas made five saves on the day.
Albright falls to 7-6, 1-4 and will travel to face Wilson College on Saturday in a non-conference matchup. Messiah, who was in the top-10 last week, is 9-3 on the season.
