Box Score
The Albright College field hockey team equaled a program-best nine wins for the season, easily dispatching Hood College 6-2 on Homecoming Friday.
It was Senior Day and
Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz had a memorable final home game at Shirk Stadium, scoring two goals.
Allison Dombroski (goal, two assists) and
Alyssa Tourdot (goal, assist) continued their torrid scoring paces with multi-point performances.
The Lions jumped out to a 3-0 lead after less than 16 minutes. A minute in, freshman
Amanda Smith was denied by Hood defender
Emily Richardson, who made a stunning five defensive saves in the contest. Smith was there for the rebound however, and a 1-0 Albright lead.
Dombroski made it 2-0 in the 10th minute, and then fed Pietrusewicz as Albright was all over the Blazers early.
Pietrusewicz made it 4-1 right after halftime, and had numerous chances for a Senior Day hat trick, including a shot off the post with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. In a mirror image of her second goal, a penalty corner was stopped by Tourdot, passed by Dombrowski to Smith, and fed to Pietrusewicz in front of the net, but this time she put it wide.
Freshman
Mackenzie Faight, back from injury, scored off Tourdot's assist, and then Tourdot redirected Dombrowski's shot for the final goal.
Freshman
Meghan Dickinson subbed in late in the game and had a chance at the doorstep, but was denied first by Hood goalie
Liz Decembrino and then by another defensive save from Richardson.
With the victory, Albright (9-7, 2-5) ties a program record for wins. Another mark could fall next week as Albright goalie
Marguerite DeLucas, already the school record-holder for single season and career shutouts and career victories, goes for a record 10th victory in a season.
