Box Score
The Albright field hockey team fell to #16 Elizabethtown in the rain Tuesday afternoon, by a final score of 6-1.
Two first half goals from Elizabethtown's
Erin Meanix and four more to follow by teammates gave the Lions' a challenge.
Allison Dombroski scored her 11th goal of the season however, as Albright has still not been shutout in 2012.
There was very little action in the first 20 minutes of play. Elizabethtown's
Jacki Hikes, a freshman, missed from right in front of the goal. A few minutes later,
Kendra Hudson had two chances off a penalty corner but both shots were blocked by Lions' goalie
Marguerite DeLucas.
The first goal of the game was a slap shot from Etown senior Meanix. The ball remained in mostly Elizabethtown possession for the remainder of the first half, keeping the Lion defense busy.
Another goal followed shortly thereafter, from Meanix again, who was assisted by senior
Nadine Yunginger. After a sliding save from DeLucas, Meanix was able to take advantage of an open net.
DeLucas responded with another huge save off a penalty corner from the Blue Jays before the end of the half.
The second half started with multiple saves from DeLucas, including three in a row. The Lions' picked up the pace and were able to guide the ball into Blue Jay territory for some offensive action.
On a corner penalty from Albright,
Alyssa Tourdot's shot went just inches left of the goal, with four and a half minutes left to play. The Lion's continued to have much more offensive possession, however a final penalty corner within the last minute was cleared by Etown.
The next home game for the Lions is October 16 against Widener. This Saturday, they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a game at 1 p.m.
