Box Score
The Albright College field hockey team concluded its 2012 Commonwealth Conference schedule with a 2-0 loss to Stevenson, Wednesday in Owings Mills, Md.
The Lions (2-6) are officially eliminated from championship contention with the loss. While likely to still be on the outside looking in after tiebreakers, Albright could have ended in a three-way tie with Widener and Stevenson for the final playoff spot with a win.
Stevenson meanwhile goes to 4-4 in league play and clinches a playoff spot at the expense of Widener, who lost a spirited 2-1 decision to defending champion Messiah.
The Lions mustered just two shots on goal, from freshman
Mackenzie Faight and junior
Alyssa Tourdot, both of which were stopped by Stevenson's
Katie Cavanaugh.
Caitlin Dempsey scored the opener just a minute after halftime, slotted a shot past Albright goalie
Marguerite DeLucas (six saves).
Kaitlyn May tacked a second on later, off an assist from
Allyson Moody.
Albright falls to 9-8 and will conclude its 2012 season on the road, Saturday at Neumann University.
