Alyssa Tourdot struck twice in a span of 2:22 to carry the Albright College field hockey team past Neumann on Saturday, 3-2 in the Lions' season finale.
The win gave the Lions a new program-record with 10 victories in a season, under first year head coach Sarah Brant. Albright finished the season with a 10-8 mark.
Tourdot also added an assist, and fell just shy of the school goal-scoring record in her season at Albright. The transfer finished with 16 goals, one short of the mark set by
Angela Gardner back in 2005.
With the Lions trailing 2-1 and just over 10 minutes remaining, freshman
Chelsea Klein fed Tourdot for the tying goal.
Albright kept pressing and immediately earned a penalty corner, with Neumann calling timeout after escaping that threat. Just 13 seconds after play resumed however, senior
Courtney White assisted Tourdot for the winning tally.
The host Knights had gotten out to a quick 1-0 lead after just 99 seconds, as
Chelsea O'Donnell followed up
Kelsey Mazur's rebound and scored.
Tourdot assisted freshman
Amanda Smith in the 12th minute but Neumann answered in the 21st, after Albright freshman
Mackenzie Faight had hit the post at the other end.
