Results
The Albright College men's swimming team had a successful home opener on Saturday, defeating Lycoming 146-108 in the Natatorium.
The men won the opening 200 medley relay, with the team of
Ralph Porrazzo,
Josh Park,
Matt Runtas and
Mike McBride turning in a time of 1:41.10.
Albright then swept the 1000 free, with Ricky Sutton (10:39.49),
Kyle Everson (11:02.21) and
Rainer Floeter (11:03.75).
1-2 finishes followed for Albright in the 200 free (McBride,
Alex Bauer) and the 100 back (Porrazzo,
Adam Kurtz).
Lycoming's
T.J. Guminski became the first opponent to win an individual race against the Lions this season, taking the 100 breast. Albright's Park was second in 1:05.04. Guminski later added a win in the 200 breast, just barely edging Park by .57 seconds.
Sophomore Adam Vogel got the Lions back on track with a victory in the 200 fly (2:03.48). Freshman
Mitch Cain was third.
Runtas won the 50 free in 22.30, ahead of second-place
Alex Bauer (22.30). Runtas was then part of an Albright sweep in the 100 free, placing second behind McBride (49.14); ¬Vogel was third.
Porrazzo took the 200 back, with a time of 1:59.97, well ahead of the field.
Tyler Huizing placed second for the Lions.
The Lions swept the other distance event as Sutton won the 500 free in 5:08.03. Newcomers
Kyle Everson (5:18.89) and
Thomas Wicklund (5:24.44) followed.
Vogel added the top time in the 200 IM, swimming 2:05.07.
Albright improves to 2-0 (2-0 MAC) and will travel to Widener next Saturday.
