The Albright College women's basketball team (2-1) goes into their conference opener at Arcadia on Wednesday night.

Albright College Lions (2-1)

The Lions fell to undefeated Moravian in a close three-point game on Monday.  

Junior Meghan Boyle made nine of 11 field goal attempts and finished with a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds). Sophomore Tara Sabotchick filled the box score with 11 points, 6 assists and 5 boards.

Sophomore Jessica Venturelli had 10 points, including several big shots late, and freshman Kelecia Harris totaled 13 rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Arcadia University Knights (4-0)

The Knights open their conference schedule undefeated, and with a significant margin of victory in each game thus far. Morgan Wensley, Victoria Roukas and Sam Callgiuri are leading scorers for the team.  The team scored 36 points off of turnovers in their match again Medgar Evers College.  The Knights play with an aggressive defense which can shut down their opponents.   

This will be the Lions' second consecutive game against a 4-0 opponent. The Knights are coming off a 74-5 victory over Medgar Evers in which they held their opponent to just one made field goal.

75th Anniversary

2012 marks the 75th anniversary of women's basketball at Albright College. Albright Hall of Famer Eva Mosser was named the first head coach when the program was officially approved in February, 1937. 24 female students attended tryouts the previous November, with 12 selected for the varsity squad. The Lady Lions played their first game on February 19, 1937, at Lebanon Valley College, and later welcomed LVC in March for their first official home contest.

Coach Luck

Coach Janice Luck is the head coach for the Lady Lions and also the co-director of athletics at Albright College.  This is her 11th season in a successful road of development for the team.  

Luck's 100th win came against school rival Alvernia, as the Lions won by 20 points over the Crusaders in the 2010-2011 season.  While she was a student at Albright, she started all four years, and was a captain for three of them.
