The Albright College men's lacrosse team rallied late but ultimately fell victim to a Gwynedd-Mercy overtime goal as the Lions lost for the first time ever, 9-8 on the road.
Bryan Smith was the catalyst for Albright, scoring three times over the final 8:37 to erase an 8-5 disadvantage, including two goals in the final three minutes.
It was all for naught however, as
Craig Trueblood tallied with 39 seconds left in overtime to give the Griffins the victory.
The Lions were playing arguably their toughest opponent yet- a Gwynedd-Mercy team that has made three straight Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff appearances.
Smith finished with four goals, while
T.J. Holston scored twice and
Philip Potter added two assists.
Trueblood scored twice for GMC, while
Nicholas Coan added two goals and one assist. Goalie
Ryley O'Keefe made 13 stops.
Albright falls to 6-1 in its inaugural season, and will host Richard Stockton on Wednesday. Gwynedd-Mercy is 3-3 on the year.
