A fast start carried the #20 Lebanon Valley women's basketball team past Albright, 69-51 on Saturday in the LVC Gymnasium.
Senior
Kari Ludy led the way, scoring 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Freshman
Emily O'Donnell had 13 points and three steals, while classmate
Kelecia Harris added a team-high seven rebounds.
The Lions shot just 6-of-25 (24%) in the first half, scoring just 16 points. They were much better after halftime, shooting 54.5% and playing the Dutchmen within a point in the second period.
Lebanon Valley sprinted out to a 9-2 lead on
Tierney Hiltz' three-point play. The gap stretched to 16-2 before
Tara Sabotchick found O'Donnell inside for two points.
Down 20-4 after eight minutes, sophomore
Amanda Tiritilli drained a three-pointer. The Lions held LVC scoreless for 3:59 until
Caitlin Bach's basket made it 21-9 Dutchmen.
Ludy hit a three and then
Kristi McFadden scored as Albright fought to within 15 with 11 minutes to play, at 47-32. It was the closest Albright would get the rest of the way however.
Four LVC players were in double-figures, and two turned in double-doubles- Bach (17 points, 13 rebounds) and
Renee Fritz (13 points, 11 boards).
Albright is now 7-8 (3-5 Commonwealth). The Lions will return home on Wednesday as they take on Lycoming College at 8 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
