Box Score
The Albright College men's basketball team scored the final six points of the game to win an exciting road contest, 71-67 over Widener on Saturday.
Andrew Radomicki put the hosts up 66-65 with 2:27 left, then
Greg Lawson hit one of two free throws for Widener.
Freshman
Andre Marshall tied the game with a drive to the hoop, 1:34 from the end of the contest. With 46 seconds left, senior
Dave Singleton hit yet another game-winning jumper, and
Kyle Jordan tacked on two free throws after swatting
Rodney Brown on the defensive end.
Singleton was hot for the second consecutive game, scoring 24 points after totaling 25 vs. Lycoming on Wednesday. He made 11-of-17 shots and added seven rebounds and seven assists.
Jordan had 14 points (5-of-9) and two blocks, including his game-saving one. Senior
Zach Benjamin added 11 points and seven boards.
After fighting through 18 lead changes in that midweek victory over Lycoming, this battle was marked by 14 lead changes and eight ties. Incredibly, the largest lead of the game was Widener's six-point advantage early in the second half, and Albright's final four-point lead was their biggest of the day.
Albright trailed 37-36 at halftime after Singleton ended the first half with a late hoop, as he did vs. Lycoming. Benjamin tipped in his own miss on the first possession of the second half to help the Lions inch in front.
Two threes from Radomicki helped Widener open up a 47-41 advantage, the largest gap of the game. Singleton and Benjamin answered with lay-ins.
Albright came back to tie at 60-60 on
Pedro Perez' three-pointer with under six minutes left, and the teams stayed close the rest of the way until the Lions had the last word.
Widener's
Dillon Fields had 18 points at halftime after making 7-of-9 shots before the break. He finished with 20 (8-for-13), while Radomicki had 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Albright improves to 14-3, 7-3 and hosts an up-and-coming Arcadia (11-6, 6-4) team on Wednesday night in the Bollman Center. Widener is 4-13, 3-7 on the year.
After beating the Lions earlier in the season in Reading, Elizabethtown continued their upset role by beating Lycoming on the road as well, pushing the Warriors a game behind of Albright. The Red and White are currently in sole possession of first place, a half-game ahead of local rival Alvernia.
