Albright men's swimming defeated King's College 147-81 in their last home meet of the season celebrating six senior swimmers.
The Lions set a strong tone after the first event when they claimed first and second place in the 200 medley relay. The first place relay team comprised of
Ralph Porrazzo,
Josh Park,
Alex Bauer, and
Matt Runtas broke the pool record in the event, setting the new record at 1:39.10. The previous record was 1:39.66 set in 2005.
The Lions finished first place in 11 out of the 14 events, including 1-2-3 sweeps in the 200 freestyle (
Kyle Everson in first,
Tyler Huizing in second, and
Bobby McNair in third), and the 100 freestyle (Porrazzo in first,
Mike McBride in second, and McNair in third).
It wasn't until after the 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle by Ricky Sutton and
Matt Bauer that King's began to take first place finishes in the last three events due to Albright exhibitions.
The Sutton-Bauer combo also made up the 1-2 finish for the 200 butterfly. M. Bauer finished first (2:05.77) while Sutton took second (2:20.23).
Freshman
Sean Yuschovitz had a great day, finishing first in the 200 backstroke (2:13.04) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:04.15).
The Lions honored six senior swimmers in their last meet at Albright College. The 2012-13 seniors were M.Bauer,
Adam Kurtz,
Quentin Hicks,
Connor Unger, McNair, and
Tim Pierce.
Catch the Lions back in action next Saturday (1/26) when they travel to Susquehanna for the last meet of the regular season.
