Albright hosts #5 Messiah College on Saturday in the Bollman Center.

Albright College Lions (8-10, 4-7 Commonwealth)

The Lady Lion squad is coming off of a much-needed and also reassuring win.  On Wednesday night the Red and White took on the Arcadia women in the Bollman Center, where they took victory into their own hands, controlling the ball, remaining well composed and gaining confidence throughout.

Freshman Kelecia Harris (21 points, 15 rebounds, seven blocks, six steals) remained a prominent figure in initiating, maintaining and restoring momentum for all of the players on the floor on Wednesday night's 54-51 win.  The first half of the game started slowly, but after the two teams were able to get into rhythm the Lions made the biggest plays down the stretch, blocking Arcadia's final two chances to win or force overtime.

Messiah College Falcons (16-2, 10-1 Commonwealth)

The #5 Messiah women are coming off a surprising loss to Elizabethtown, ending a 22-game win streak over the Blue Jays.  Head coach Mike Miller said that his team did not perform under the pressure imposed by E-town early in the game, and also they were not “as inspired.”   The loss was just the second this season for the fifth-ranked team in the nation, and first in Commonwealth play.

The team will surely be prepared when they step onto the court this Saturday led by seniors Dori Gyori (a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American), Taylor Miler (10.2 ppg, 55 assists), Nikki Hess (8.3 ppg, 62 assists) and junior Chelsea Danel (7.7 ppg, 65 assists).

Head Coaches

Janice Luck is in her 11th season as head coach of the Lady Lions, and also serves as the co-director of athletics at Albright College. She earned her 100th career victory with a win over Alvernia late in the 2010-11 season.

Messiah's Miller is in his 27th season as head coach, leading the Falcons to 13 straight NCAA appearances, and two national championship games.

Previous Meeting

The two teams met earlier this season, at Messiah in Grantham, PA.  The young Lady Lions lost to the more experienced Falcons, 53-43.  The game stayed in close range throughout the two halves but Messiah proved to have the upper hand at the buzzer, despite Albright leading for part of the first half.

Albright's shooting percentage against Messiah was 44.4%, almost 10% more accurate than their rate from their game against Arcadia this past Wednesday.
