The Albright College men's swimming team won the final relay to take a close 108-97 decision over Susquehanna, Saturday in Selinsgrove, Pa.
After Susquehanna's
Chadd Lee won the 100 breast, but Albright's
Josh Park and Adam Vogel grabbed the next two spots for the Lions, the meet would come down to the 400 free relay event.
With the score at 95-93,
Mike McBride,
Adam Kurtz,
Matt Runtas and
Alex Bauer swam 3:16.47 to win the final relay, and the meet, by nearly four seconds.
Albright also won due to its distance swimmers, with sweeps in the 500 and 1000 free events.
Rick Sutton won the 1000 free, in 10:13.46.
Tyler Huizing (10:28.43) was second, and
Kyle Everson (10:42.36) was third.
Sutton took the 500 free with a time of 4:58.40, ahead of teammates
Matt Bauer (5:04.53) and Huizing (5:04.75).
McBride also won the 200 free (1:50.15), and placed second in the 100 free (48.65).
Defending MAC Swimmer of the Week
Ralph Porrazzo was first in the 100 back (53.45), and second in the 200 IM (2:04.71).
Porrazzo, Park, Kurtz, and Runtas were second in the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:40.97. Kurtz (54:97) and A. Bauer (55.61) were 2-3 in the 100 fly.
The Lions finish their regular season with a record of 12-2. The Lions will be back in action on Feb. 8-10 at the Wilkes-Barre CYC, looking for a third consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference championship.
