The Albright College men's swimming team opened up the 2013-14 season at home to Lebanon Valley, winning 115-78.
The Lions enter the season as three-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference champions, and are now 1-0 in conference dual meet competition.
Stephen Thomas,
Sam Rosenthal,
Matt Runtas and
Mitch Cain kicked things off with a win in the 200 medley relay, clocking a time of 1:44.51.
Rainer Floeter (10:57.94) and
Thomas Wicklund (11:34.01) took the top two place in the 1000 free, the day's first individual race. Freshman
Matthew Rein then took the 200 free in 1:54.11.
Albright swept the 50 free, with Runtas (22.24),
Mike McBride (22.92) and
Richard Edwards (23.46) going 1-2-3.
The Lions also swept the 100 free, with McBride (50.11),
Alex Bauer (51.30) and
Jake Andryshak (54.00).
Another 1-2-3 Red and White performance came in the 200 IM.
Ralph Porrazzo led the way with a time of 2:01.18, followed by Rosenthal and Bauer.
Cain won the 100 fly in 55.70, with
Ken Richardson coming in second in his first collegiate meet. Thomas took the 100 back, swimming 58.56 to easily outpace the field. Rein's 5:03.97 was the fastest time in the 500 free, with Albright swimming exhibition by that point.
The Lions travel to Lycoming on Saturday for a 4 p.m. meet.
