Arcadia struck on a pair of similar second half penalty corners as the Albright College field hockey team lost 2-0, Tuesday in Shirk Stadium.
Katrina Dull played both corners into
Ashley Ditcher for a slap shot from the left-center. Her earlier shot was deflected over the goalkeeper's shoulder by teammate
Morgan Paese, and the second skipped in off the foot of an Albright defender.
In between, Ditcher took yet another corner and fired from the same area. The shot hit off Paese's body and went in, but a whistle had already been blown.
Late in the first half, Albright's
Samantha Martin redirected a ball from the right side directly into the goalmouth, but no Lion was there to run onto it. Albright was short an attacker with
Alyssa Tourdot serving two minutes for a green card.
Less than 10 minutes into the second period,
Mackenzie Faight played a corner to Tourdot and then redirected Tourdot's shot at the near post. Arcadia goalie
Brittany Hodson was there for a crucial save however.
Hodson would finish with five saves, as the Lions had several more dangerous second half chances off the stick of Tourdot. Albright goalie
Marguerite DeLucas made 10 stops.
It was the final home game of the season for the Lions and their three All-Conference seniors- Tourdot, DeLucas and
Chelsea Klein.
Albright falls to 6-12, 2-6 on the season, and will wrap up the 2013 campaign on Thursday afternoon at Misericordia.
