The Albright College men's golf team took care of business on Thursday, finishing off a 6.5-2.5 victory over local rival Alvernia in the Yocum Cup.
Albright came in Thursday's singles matches with a 3-0 lead, and took 3.5 of the six points available to take home the Cup for a seventh consecutive year.
In the day's first match,
Dalton Mecke made quick work of Crusader opponent
Corey Crafford, winning 7 and 6.
Albright clinched the trophy when
Codi Pannebecker finished off an 8 and 6 win over
Bobby Ranken.
Also winning in singles play was senior
Sal Capelli, with a hard-fought 2 and 1 decision over
R.J. Cummings.
Alvernia finally grabbed their first two points as
Chris Van Natta beat
Samuel Ignatuk (4 and 2) and
Brett Fernandes prevailed over
Payne Baust (2 and 1).
The team leaders battled to the very finish, as Albright's
Avery Jones halved with Alvernia's
Zach Arsenault. Jones made par on 18 to grab a share of the match.
Results: Albright 6.5, Alvernia 2.5
