Albright Puts Up Good Fight at Elizabethtown, But Cannot Hold Off Blue Jays

Box Score

The Albright field hockey team traveled to Elizabethtown this afternoon to play the Blue Jays, who are undefeated in the Commonwealth Conference with an overall record of 7-3. After today's 4-0 loss the Lions are now 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Defensively, the Lions played well and put up a good fight against the Blue Jay offense, but could not hold them off. With two minutes to go in the first period, the Blue Jays scored their first goal through Jacki Hikes.

The Lions made every effort to hold the Blue Jays offense off as long as they could. Hikes would go on to score again however, with the third goal of the contest.  Alyssa Aichele and Kaylee Werner added the other two for Elizabethtown.

Lion goalie Marguerite DeLucas proved strong with 15 saves on the day. Around 10 minutes into the game, she was able to save four shots within less than a minute.

The Elizabethtown offense dominated the game, while Albright took only five shots.

Albright plays Lebanon Valley College October 9 at 4:00 p.m in Shirk Stadium.
