Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Opens Season With Loss at Wesley

Box Score

The Wesley Wolverines ripped off a 40-4 first half run, as the Albright College men's basketball team dropped its season opener 101-51 in Dover, Del.

Kyle Jordan led his team in points (eight), assists (three) and steals (two). No Albright player reached double-figures but 12 different players scored, including freshmen Sameen Swint, Josh Marquez and Trey Thatcher.

Swint made a jumper to give Albright an early 6-5 lead after 2:50 of play. Following a Lion timeout soon after, Calvert Gantz scored to keep the visitors down 15-8.

A Marquez layup was the only basket Albright could muster over the next 9:47, as the Wolverines outscored the Lions 30-2 over that stretch of time.

Albright scored the final four points of the first half. Pedro Perez sank a pair of free throws and then came up with a steal at the other end, leading to Evan Ward's basket with 11 seconds remaining.

David Langan continued his red-hot start to the season with 27 points (on 9-of-9 shooting) and 14 rebounds for Wesley.

Four other Wolverines were in double-figures: Eric Selby (13), James Livingston (13), Anthony Bowers (11) and AJ Tilghman (10).

Albright (0-1) will play across town on Saturday against Penn State-Berks. Wesley, a 2013 NCAA tournament qualifier, improves to 3-0 on the year.
