The Albright College women's basketball team hosts a pair of CSAC schools around the New Year's holiday.
The Lions face Cabrini on December 30 at 6:30 p.m., following the conclusion of the men's Holiday Tournament. They will then play Neumann on January 2 at 7 p.m.
Albright College Lions
Kelecia Harris led a big second half as the Albright College women's basketball team defeated Keystone, 92-82 on Dec. 16.
Harris, a sophomore, had a double-double in the second half alone. She played all 20 minutes and had 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks after the break, as Albright overturned a halftime deficit with a 49-point outburst in the second period For the game, Harris had 28 points on 11-of-20 shooting, 14 rebounds and four blocks.
Senior
Meghan Boyle had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Lions. Also in double-figures were freshman
Shannon Thomas (13 points) and sophomore
Emily O'Donnell (12 points). Junior
Jessica Venturelli totaled eight points and an Albright season-high for assists (nine).
Barczynski Selected to "So You Want to Be A Coach" Program
Albright College senior
Shawn Barczynski has been selected to participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "So You Want To Be A Coach" program.
The WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" program provides female student-athletes with an experience that becomes the foundation of a successful coaching career. The WBCA has assembled a group of experienced coaches and administrators who will serve as resources to share their knowledge, as well as provide participants with networking opportunities which will help them in securing a future coaching position. The program will be held Friday, April 4 - Sunday, April 6, 2014 during the WBCA National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
Barczynski is in her fourth year with the Albright women's basketball team. She has been very involved around campus over her time at Albright. A member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee), she gives campus tours and serves as an Albright Ambassador.
Cabrini College Cavaliers
Cabrini is 7-1 heading into their Albright matchup. The Cavaliers made the NCAA tournament last season after winning the CSAC championship. Current senior
Annie Rivituso (7.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg) was the tournament MVP, she is one of three returning All-CSAC players on the roster along with
Brittany Sandone and
Amber Keys.
Neumann University Knights
Neumann is 3-5 on the season heading into their game against Albright. The Knights have already faced two Commonwealth Conference teams this year- losing 87-47 to Lebanon Valley and 56-53 to Alvernia.
