The Albright College men's basketball team celebrates Senior Day on Saturday, and looks to get back on the track with a game against Stevenson University.

Regional Rankings

The first regional rankings of the season were released on Wednesday, and the Lions are ranked #2 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, behind only Catholic (19-2). Other ranked Commonwealth Conference teams are Alvernia (fourth, 16-4) and Arcadia (seventh, 13-8).

Albright College Lions (18-4, 11-4 Commonwealth)

The Lions fell one game behind Alvernia in the race for the Commonwealth Conference's top seed with a 70-60 loss to Hood on Wednesday. Three-point shooting doomed the Lions, as they made just 1-of- 23 (4.3%) attempts from behind the arc, and missed all 15 attempts in the second half after going into the break tied at 27-27.

The Lions are scoring 74.5 ppg while allowing opponents 67.7 ppg. Juniors Pedro Perez (13.0 ppg) and Kyle Jordan (11.0 ppg) are scoring in double-figures, while Jordan is adding a team-best 26 blocks.

Stevenson University Mustangs (14-8, 7-8 Commonwealth)

Stevenson is undefeated in non-conference play, and has now won three straight to move within a game of the Commonwealth Conference playoff places. The Mustangs are looking to complete a sweep of last season's playoff qualifiers, after beating Widener, Lycoming and Messiah in succession.

Senior Brett Burrier (14.6 ppg) is one of three Mustangs averaging over 14 points per contest, along with Christian Roberts (14.5 ppg) and Alfonzo Hawkins (14.4 ppg). As a team, Stevenson is scoring 77.1 points per game and shooting 46.2% from the floor.

Senior Day

Today is the final regular season home game for Albright (although the Lions can guarantee themselves at least one home playoff game with a victory). Departing student-athletes Zach Benjamin, Cornell Mickens and Dave Singleton will be honored on Senior Day.

Benjamin, a criminology major from Douglassville, Pa., has appeared in 67 career games, starting 22 contests this season. He has totaled 326 points, 197 rebounds and 29 blocks for his career. Benjamin is averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his first season as a starter. He was a member of the 2009-10 Commonwealth Conference champion and NCAA qualifying team.

Mickens, a political science and philosophy major from Pittsburgh, Pa., was also a member of that 2009-10 championship team, averaging almost 10 minutes per game as a freshman. For his career, he has appeared in 94 games with 18 starts and totaled 600 points, 239 rebounds, 101 assists, 68 steals and 39 blocked shots. Mickens averaged a career-best 8.8 points per game in his sophomore season, and was a starter last season before taking over a crucial sixth-man role for Albright this year.

Singleton, a business marketing major from Coatesville, Pa., has established himself as an All-American candidate after transferring to Albright midway through last season. He has earned three Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week honors this year (the only person in the league to do so), while adding one ECAC Player of the Week nod and one selection to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week.

Singleton played two seasons at Division I High Point University, and was among the Big South Conference leaders in assists and steals as a freshman starter. He joined Albright after a redshirt year at Marquette University, and needs three more steals to break the school single-season record of 52. His 122 assists are also on pace to put him on the school's all-time charts, and his 182 career steals (including his Division I years) are more than any Albright player ever. He has 868 career points, and ranks among the top-50 in the nation this year in rebounds, assists, steals and double-doubles.

Also being recognized is four-year team manager Derrick Vandyck.
