The Albright College men's tennis team earned its first Commonwealth Conference victory since 2006, defeating Hood College 6-3 at the Albright Tennis Courts.
Head coach Jeremy Speicher was a senior on that 2005-06 team, and has now led the Lions back in the winning column vs. the league's newest member in Hood College.
Junior
Ian Moore won 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, while senior
Joe Monzo took a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 decision in the third spot as the Lions' upperclassmen came through.
Freshman
Terrence Goode lost a tough 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 decision to
Luis Cotto in the second singles spot.
Goode and Monzo had combined for an 8-4 victory in second doubles. Moore and
Alex Alleman lost by the same scoreline at first doubles.
Hood defaulted at third doubles and fifth/sixth singles.
Albright improves to 3-6, 1-0, and will travel to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday.
