The Albright College field hockey team fell at home on Tuesday night, losing 4-0 to Stockton College.
Before the game, a moment of silence was held for field hockey alum
Samantha Pesaresi '12, who passed away this weekend. The Lions players wore purple headbands, Sam's favorite color, to remember the three-year Albright starter.
Marguerite DeLucas made a triple save 10 minutes in, stoning
Megan Irving,
Alicia Leadbeater and then Irving again from close range.
Susie Balidemaj put the Ospreys ahead in the 22nd minute of action, and
Rileigh Ruff scored from outside to double the advantage less than 10 minutes later.
Albright had several chances late in the half, but both
Chelsea Klein and
Sam Chichearo were saved by Stockton goalie
Liz Stankiewicz.
The Lions had a pair of penalty corners with time expired in the first half, but couldn't get a goal before the break.
Despite the hosts' string of chances, it was the visitors who grabbed the next goal.
Alicia Belko scored early in the second half, forcing an Albright timeout with the score 3-0. Leadbeater would add the fourth with five minutes remaining.
Albright falls to 1-3 on the season and will travel to play Scranton on Saturday.
