Box Score
Sophomore
Amanda Smith scored another late winner as the Albright College field hockey team beat Moravian 1-0, Tuesday in Shirk Stadium.
Senior goalie
Marguerite DeLucas had a big day, saving 11 shots to extend her school career records in shutouts (14) and victories (26).
Both of the Lions' wins this season have been 1-0 decisions, with Smith scoring the winning goal in each.
With 8:10 remaining in the game, Smith charged towards the cage and tipped in a shot from senior
Chelsea Klein for the day's only goal.
DeLucas saved
Keriann Badessa (12 shots, eight on goal) twice in the final five minutes to protect the lead, and then made a diving stop on
Catherine Duffin.
Earlier in the second half, DeLucas had gotten her blocker on a slap shot by Badessa and pushed it off the post and wide.
There were relatively few chances in the opening 20 minutes of the game. Badessa skidded an early chance wide of the post off a corner. Following another penalty corner, DeLucas made a good save after a give-and-go between Duffin and
Kelly O'Donnell.
With 11:30 left before halftime, freshman
Morgan Raneiri was saved from the middle on Albright's first shot of the contest.
In a frantic span late in the first half, DeLucas saved both Badessa (on a breakaway) and O'Donnell. On the second rebound, freshman defender
Jen Farmer made a defensive save off the goal-line.
Albright is 2-4 on the season and will travel to Delaware Valley College on Thursday.
