Efficiency Helps Albright to Win Over Wilkes in OT

Box Score

The Albright College field hockey team earned a win at home this evening against Wilkes University. The game went into overtime, ending with a goal from Chelsea Klein to put Albright on top 2-1.

The Wilkes team remained active throughout the game, however it was the Lions' efficiency that gave them the advantage.

Within the first two and a half minutes of the game, Marguerite DeLucas and the Lion defense effectively kept nine shots away from the net. While Wilkes totaled 35 shots and 20 penalty corners, Albright totaled only nine and four respectively.

Chelsea Klein scored her first goal of the season 25 minutes into the game, assisted by freshman Morgan Raneiri. Five minutes into the second period, Taylor Ryan scored for Wilkes to tie the game.

DeLucas and the defense continued to block and save the rest of the Wilkes shots for the remainder of the game. DeLucas totaled 15 saves for the day.

Klein scored again two minutes and 45 seconds into overtime, during Albright's first OT possession.

The Lions will play on Saturday at Hood College at 1:00 p.m. Hood is a member of the Commonwealth Conference, and their current record is 3-5 overall.
