Box Score
The Albright College field hockey team grabbed another late 1-0 home win, as the Lions dispatched Neumann on Monday in Shirk Stadium.
Albright won its third 1-0 home game in 2013, with each winning goal coming in the final 10 minutes or overtime. The Lions are 5-5 overall, but 4-1 on the Shirk Stadium turf.
Sophomore
Amanda Smith has had a hand in all three of those decisive tallies. With 2:05 left, she was stopped by Neumann goalie
Lindsey Casekamp and then on a defensive save from
Becky Guinto. Junior
Sara Barr finally slammed home the rebound at the right post.
Casekamp made 11 saves for the Knights, as Albright held a 20-5 shot advantage and put 11 attempts on goal in the second half.
Earlier in the second period, Barr couldn't quite redirect
Chelsea Klein's cross into the cage. Five minutes later, Smith was stopped twice in the goalmouth by Casekamp.
In the opening minutes of the game a deflected pass fell to junior
Samantha Martin, but she shot wide. Off a penalty corner, Smith's shot was kicked away from close range.
Albright senior goalie
Marguerite DeLucas was named the Commonwealth Conference Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, and she made three saves en route to her 15th career shutout.
