The Albright College men's swimming team grabbed an emphatic victory over one of its toughest MAC competitiors, winning 171-90 at Misericordia on Saturday.
The Misericordia men have finished second to three-time defending champion Albright in each of the last two MAC championship meets.
In 2012, while Albright won the title comfortably, the Cougars were their biggest threat- winning all five relay events. Last season, the Lions took all five relays and 16 of 18 events overall in a dominating display.
Albright took both relays in this meet, with
Ralph Porrazzo,
Ken Richardson,
Alex Bauer and
Mike McBride taking the 200 medley in 1:40.89, and Porrazzo,
Matt Runtas, McBride and Bauer taking he 400 free relay in 3:20.15.
Junior
Rick Sutton took the 1650 free, in 17:17.95, as part of an Albright sweep that included
Matthew Rein and
Rainer Floeter.
Porrazzo followed in the 200 free (1:47.70), and
Stephen Thomas added a win in the 100 back (55.40).
Bauer (22.69) and Runtas (22.85) went 1-2 in the 50 free. In the 100 free, McBride touched first with a time of 48.74.
Porrazzo and Thomas continued their strong meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 back. Sutton and Rein swept the top two places in the 500 free. Bauer took the 100 fly with a time of 55.96.
Albright remains undefeated at 10-0, 8-0 MAC and will travel to King's next Saturday after handing Misericordia its first home loss of the season. The Lions will be going for their 30th consecutive MAC dual meet victory.
