Marisa Bartone,
Brandy Blimline and
Jordan Gibson combined for 13 kills in their final home match in an Albright uniform, but the Lions lost to Lycoming 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14 in a Commonwealth Conference match on Wednesday in the Bollman Center.
Bartone led the trio of seniors with six kills, while Blimline had five kills and Gibson added two kills. Bartone also had four digs and two blocks, while Blimline finished with seven digs and one block and Gibson added two digs and a service ace.
Freshman
Kellie Hill added five kills, while
Caitlin Klotzbach notched a match-high 18 digs for Albright.
Lycoming, which improved to 17-13 overall and 5-3 in the Commonwealth, was led by Maggie Slawson who posted 17 kills and 14 digs. Lauren Fink added 12 kills and 11 digs and Bethany Richardson had 10 kills and three blocks.
Albright, which dropped to 8-17 overall and 1-5 in conference play, hit just .083 for the match while the Warriors posted a .204 attack percentage.
After dropping the first two sets, Albright rallied to win the third set 25-23. But the momentum from that victory could not be carried over to the fourth set as the Warriors won the fourth set 25-14.
Albright will conclude the 2014 season with a pair of road matches. The Lions will visit Messiah on Oct. 28 and finish the season with a match on Widener on Oct. 30.
