CHESTER, Pa. -- Sophomore
Caitlin Klotzbach extended her streak of double figure dig matches to 35 straight with 15 digs, but Albright lost to Widener 25-17, 25-16, 25-13 in the Lions season finale on Thursday in the Schwartz Center.
Klotzbach ended the 2013 season by reaching double figures in digs in eight straight matches and reached double digits in all 27 matches this season. She finished the year with 519 digs and averaged 5.46 per set.
Senior
Marisa Bartone recorded a team-high eight kills to lead the Albright offensive attack and she also posted a .261 attack percentage. Fellow senior
Brandy Blimline added five kills for the Lions, while
Kellie Hill had four kills.
Claudia Guise,
Nicole Vazquez and
Cheyenne Robinett each added two kills for Albright.
Guise added 17 assists and five digs, while
Patricia Horgan had three service aces and three digs. Senior
Jordan Gibson tallied two digs in her final match in an Albright uniform.
Kaitlin Schnalzer had a match-high 13 kills for Widener, while Brooke Ruditys added 11 kills. The Pride hit .271 for the match, while limiting Albright to .028.
Albright concludes the 2014 season with an 8-19 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the Commonwealth Conference. Widener improves to 7-23 overall and 4-4 in conference play with the win.
