FREDERICK, Md. -- The Albright men's soccer team opened Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday and came away with a disappointing 5-0 loss to Hood at Thomas Athletic Field.
The Lions, who dropped to 5-6-1 overall and 0-1 in league play, trailed only 1-0 at the intermission but saw the Blazers score four goals in the second half.
Albright fired 10 shots, and seven on goal, at Blazer keeper Henry Mills but could not get anything past the freshman netminder.
Hood scored at the 28:24 mark of the first half when Mitchell Mattox scored on a cross from Paul Windsor for a 1-0 Blazer lead.
The Blazers scored all four of their second-half goals within a 5:18 stretch late in the period.
Vitali Zaluha had seven shots, including five on goal, to lead Albright.
Diego Mendez,
Steve Bien-Aime and
Nathan Hughes had one shot each for Albright.
David Oram got the start in goal for the Lions and made three saves.
Albright will return to Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday (Oct. 8) when it visits Lebanon Valley for a 4 p.m. match.
