Natalie Wilson and
Suzanne Kuhrmann scored second-half goals and the Albright women's soccer team opened Commonwealth Conference play with a 2-1 road victory over Hood on Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field.
Facing starting the conference slate with a loss, the Lions rallied to earn a significant result.
Jill Heyman gave the Blazers an early 1-0 lead when she scored at the 7:36 mark of the first half.
Albright, which improved to 5-5-1 overall and 1-0 in Commonwealth Conference play, could only muster two shots in the first half and trailed 1-0 at the break. A different Lion team emerged after the intermission as Albright managed eight shots and scored two goals.
Wilson got Albright even at 1-1 when she scored her first goal of the season at the 53:41 mark of the second half on an assist from Kuhrmann.
Kuhrmann then scored the game-winner for the Lions when she beat the Hood goalie for her first tally of the year at the 61:08 mark of the second half.
Jaymee Stepp picked up the victory in goal for the Lions and improved to 4-2-1 on the season.
Albright will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 7) when it faces Lebanon Valley in Annville, Pa., in a Commonwealth Conference match.
