SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- It took over 1,600 miles and two overtimes, but Albright head coach
Janice Luck broke the school record for career victories as the Lions defeated Lynchburg 69-65 in double overtime on Friday at the USC Student Center in Puerto Rico.
With the win, Luck notched her 137th career victory and moved past Sally Miller for first place in the Albright record books. Miller recorded 136 career victories during her tenure at Albright which stretched from 1977-94.
Junior
Kelecia Harris led the way for Albright as she recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Harris also had five blocked shots for the game and broke the Albright career record for blocks with 133. She moved past Meredith Berger who had 132 career blocks into first place on the career list.
Harris led four players in double figures as
Shannon Thomas had 14 points,
Jane Joyce scored 13 points and
Jessica Venturelli added 10 points.
Kadijah Bishop had seven points and 12 rebounds and Venturelli added nine rebounds, six assists and six blocked shots to her 10 points.
Albright, which has won four of its last five games, improved to 7-3 on the season.
Lynchburg, which dropped to 6-3 overall, was led by Sharmaine Hairston who had 19 points. Olivia DeFrancesko had 13 points, Shannon Allan scored 12 points and Lauren Penley had 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Albright returns to action on Dec. 30 when it visits Neumann for a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
