The Albright College women's basketball team hosts Hood on Wednesday in the Lions' annual PinkZone cancer fundraiser.
PinkZone Game
Albright will hold its annual "PinkZone" breast cancer fundraiser today. The Lions will be wearing special pink jerseys for tonight's game.
The Pink Zone aims to fight against breast cancer on the court, across campus, and within communities. The campaign promotes cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-round efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities, and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Commonwealth Standings
Albright (6-8) is one game behind Widener (7-7) for the final Commonwealth playoff spot. Lycoming also sits at 6-8, with a trip to Reading coming up next Tuesday.
The Lions are 1-1 head-to-head with Widener, but still lack a victory against any of the top four teams in the standings, which would be the next tiebreaker if head-to-head records are equal. Widener has two wins against Stevenson (10-4), who is currently tied for third place. Albright has games remaining against Stevenson and 10-4 Elizabethtown.
Albright College Lions (12-9, 6-8)
Albright shot the ball extremely well at Lebanon Valley on Saturday, making 13-of-19 (68.4%) shots in the first half and setting season highs for shooting percentage (58.1%) and made three-pointers (seven). However, offensive rebounds were the Lions' undoing as the Dutchmen pulled down nine in the first half and 14 overall, earning crucial second chance points off those boards.
Junior
Amanda Tiritilli had 17 points and made 5-of-6 threes (83.3%), equaling the second-best three-point shooting performance in school history. Freshman
Shannon Thomas added 13 points and four assists.
Sophomore
Kelecia Harris has 50 blocks this season, which is 11 shy of the school record set by
Alison Koch in 1988-89.
Hood College Blazers (5-16, 2-12)
The Blazers are 2-12 and sit in last place in the Commonwealth Conference, but have an overtime win over defending champion Lebanon Valley to their credit and also took Albright down to the final shot last month.
Freshman guard
Danni Medovich leads Hood in scoring with 9.7 points per game. Junior forward
Rachel Wiley has team-bests in rebounding (8.1 rpg) and blocked shots (38, third in the conference).
