Albright faces a must-win matchup with Lycoming, as the Lady Lions sit one game behind the Warriors in the race for the final Commonwealth playoff spot.

Commonwealth Standings

The Lions lost to Lycoming in their penultimate game last season and were eliminated from the playoffs, and the same would happen tonight with an Albright loss. Lycoming (8-8) and Widener (8-8) are tied for the fifth and final playoff spot, one game ahead of the Lions (7-9).

Tiebreakers are complicated, since any ties with an even head-to-head record will be decided by the highest team beaten in the standings and the Commonwealth's top four (Elizabethtown, Lebanon Valley, Messiah, Stevenson) are all still separated by just one game.

An Albright win would give them a 2-0 head-to-head advantage over Lycoming, and a 3-1 head-to-head tiebreaker in the event of a three-way logjam with Lyco and Widener. Albright and Widener are 1-1 against each other with the Pride holding two victories over Stevenson, so Albright would need to beat Elizabethtown on Saturday (and hope Etown finishes ahead of Stevenson in the standings) to win a two-team tie with Widener.

Previous Meeting

Albright won a 67-65 overtime thriller at Lycoming last month. Lycoming's Olivia Manges got behind the Lions' defense in the final seconds of regulation and was driving for the game-winning basket, but Jessica Venturelli came from the back to block the shot and send the game to overtime.

Venturelli played 44 minutes and finished with 10 points, five assists and four steals. Sophomore Kelecia Harris had a big day with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, seven rebounds and four blocks. Two other Lions were in double-figures, including a double-double from sophomore Kadijah Bishop (10 points, 11 rebounds). Classmate Emily O'Donnell added 10 points and seven boards.

Albright College Lions (13-10, 7-9 Commonwealth)

Stevenson scored 12 of the last 16 points to beat Albright 60-50 on Saturday in Owings Mills, Md. Harris had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and added seven blocks to pull within two of the Albright single season record.

Senior Kristi McFadden added 12 points and six rebounds, with freshman Shannon Thomas (11 points) also in double figures.

The Lions will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday afternoon vs. Elizabethtown, and recognize departing student-athletes Meghan Boyle (8.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg), McFadden (5.9 ppg, 82 assists) and Shawn Barczynski (3.7 ppg, 53.8 FG%).

Lycoming College Warriors (11-11, 8-8 Commonwealth)

The Warriors are led by senior Julie Antonelli, who scored her 1,000th career point earlier this season and is averaging 14.6 ppg and 9.1 rpg. She also leads the Warriors in blocks (16), steals (42), and ranks third in assists (59).

Junior Ali Derr turned in a career-high 23 points last time vs. Albright, and is second on the team in scoring (9.9 ppg), rebounding (4.9 rpg) and blocked shots (15).
