Men's Lacrosse Locks Down Arcadia

The Albright College men's lacrosse team held Arcadia to just six shots on goal, as the Lions prevailed 11-3 on Saturday in Glenside, Pa.

Five of the Red and White's 11 goals came from freshmen, including a hat trick from rookie Andrew Potter. Potter also won 5-of-6 faceoffs and picked up six ground balls. Classmate Cam Cetrone added two goals, while freshman Derek Stump totaled three assists.

Defensively, junior Joe Devinney caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls. Senior Jordan DiZenzo made three saves in goal.

Junior Philip Potter assisted Cetrone twice in a span of 57 seconds to give Albright an early 2-0 lead. A tight first quarter ended with the Lions ahead just 2-1 however.

A. Potter made it 3-1 with a low shot through the goalie's legs with 12:58 left in the second. Another freshman, Stump, assisted the play.

Stump then assisted Bryan Smith for a 4-1 scoreline, and Smith fed A. Potter to make it 5-1.

Stump rattled the crossbar early in the third quarter. Less than a minute later, he found A. Potter to make it 6-1 Albright with 11:37 left in the period. Nate Rhoads, T.J. Holston and Phil Potter all scored in the third as the Lions led 9-2 heading into the final quarter.

Mike Southwick recorded Albright's 10th goal, and Nicholas Pisko finished off the scoring on a man-advantage, with an assist from James Egleston.

Albright held an 11-7 advantage in faceoffs, and held the Knights scoreless on six man-up opportunities. The Lions also had just one failed clear all game.

The Lions are 1-1 and will host defending national champion Stevenson University next Saturday in Shirk Stadium.
