F&M Run Before Halftime Costs Albright in 12-5 Loss

The Diplomats scored four times in the final minute of the first half, as Franklin & Marshall defeated the Albright College men's lacrosse team 12-5 on Saturday in Lancaster, Pa.

Freshman Cam Cetrone had two goals and picked up a team-high four ground balls. Junior Mike Southwick also scored twice and added two ground balls.

Another freshman, Andrew Potter, had a goal and an assist. Classmate Derek Stump totaled four ground balls, while Kyle McCabe caused three turnovers to go with three ground balls.

With the Lions already trailing 5-2, Franklin & Marshall's Bill Kempner scored 57 minutes before halftime. The Diplomats won the draw on a violation and Michael Bossidy tallied with 33 seconds on the clock to make it 7-5.

Albright called timeout but Mike Sanzone won the ensuing faceoff, took a pass back from Philip Gamble, and scored again. Eight seconds later it was 9-2, after another F&M faceoff win and a quick strike from Will Ballantyne.

The Dips make it 10-2 in the first minute of the third quarter. Albright goalie Jordan DiZenzo made a save but the Lions knocked the ball into their own goal on the ensuing scramble.

A. Potter had assisted Cetrone for Albright's opening goal, as the Lions were down just 2-1 after one quarter. The Dips scored twice early in the second quarter, with Southwick answering for the Lions.

F&M goalie Cameron Setian kept the Lions from mounting a comeback, totaling 10 saves. DiZenzo made eight stops for the Lions.

Bossidy led the Dips with a hat trick, while Jamie McCulloch added two goals and an assist. Sanzone won 12-of-18 faceoffs and picked up five ground balls.

Albright falls to 1-3 on the year and will host California's Whitter College on Tuesday.
