A dominant second half led the Albright College men's lacrosse team past 18th-ranked St. Mary's (Md.), 14-8 on the road Saturday.

The Lions trailed 6-3 early in the third quarter, but struck four times in a stretch of under three minutes to retake the lead. Albright then outscored their nationally-ranked opponents 7-1 in the fourth quarter.

It was the second win over a top-20 team for the third-year program, following a 10-9 overtime victory over #16 Widener last April.

Junior Ryan Turner had a hat trick and an assist, while classmates T.J. Holston and Kyle McCabe added two goals and an assist each.

Freshman Andrew Potter scored twice, with brother Philip Potter adding a goal and an assist. Mike Southwick also scored twice, while freshman Derek Stump dished out three assists.

Senior Jordan DiZenzo made 12 saves in goal. Darian Meador won 9-of-16 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls, and the younger Potter was 7-of-10 on faceoffs.

The Lions were down 6-3 with 11:12 to go in the third after Matt Carney's tally. McCabe pulled one back with 10:05 on the clock.

Albright quickly went ahead 7-6, scoring after 49 seconds (P. Potter), then 70 seconds (Southwick), then again 50 seconds later (Turner).

The teams were tied heading into the fourth quarter after a St. Mary's goal, and still even with 10:24 to play when Holston put the Red and White up for good.

Cam Cetrone made it 9-7 Lions, with the hosts' Ben Love scoring on the power play with under seven minutes remaining to pull back within one.

Albright responded with five goals in a stretch of 3:28. Holston got things started, with McCabe and Southwick scoring 12 second apart following a St. Mary's own goal.

Holston assisted A. Potter with 2:01 remaining to cap the scoring.

St. Mary's assistant coach Joey Severns had been on the Albright staff for the Lions' first two varsity seasons. Albright improves to 3-3, and will travel to Elizabethtown on Wednesday.
