Women's Lacrosse Beaten by Muhlenberg

Box Score

Muhlenberg jumped out to a big first half lead, as the visitors defeated the Albright College women's lacrosse team 17-5 on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Erin Farrell had a hat trick for the Lions. Rebecca Sartorio and Amanda Smith scored once each, with Meghan Wilson picking up a game-high five ground balls.

The Mules got big scoring performances from several players- including Michelle Certosimo, who totaled a hat trick with six assists and passed the career 100-assist mark. Casey Armstrong added seven points (three goals, four assists) and Stephanie Umbach scored four times.

Early on Albright finally got possession down 3-0, but Wilson's free position shot was saved and Armstrong went all the way for another goal and a 4-0 scoreline.

After Armstrong hit the crossbar with Muhlenberg leading 8-0, Farrell rattled a free position shot off the post and in to get Albright on the board.

With 5:30 remaining before halftime, Albright's Tori Meyer hit the post. Fellow sophomore Katie Johnson scored in the final two minutes but the play was waived off for a foot in the crease.

Sartorio scored on a free position early in the second half to make it 12-2. Smith later picked up a loose ball and raced through the defense for a goal, making the score 15-3.

Albright is 5-5 on the season and will finally have its Commonwealth Conference opener on Saturday, at Stevenson.
