Box ScoreThe Albright College men's lacrosse team controlled from start to finish, beating visiting Goucher College 14-7 on Saturday in Shirk Stadium.
The Lions had double or more of Goucher's shot total in each of the first three periods (holding a 54-26 advantage), and were at least 50% on faceoffs in each quarter as well (winning 17-of-24 overall).
Freshman
Derek Stump had a game-high five points on four assists and a goal. Classmate
Andrew Potter added three goals and an assist, while freshman
Cam Cetrone and junior
Philip Potter had two goals and an assist each.
Junior
Darian Meador continuously controlled faceoffs, winning 15-of-19 and picking up a new school single game record of 15 ground balls. Sophomore
Matt Wighard caused three turnovers and freshman goalie
Kevin Parker stopped five shots in under 14 minutes of reserve action.
Phil Potter opened the scoring with an assist from his brother Andrew, and
Mike Southwick soon made it 2-1 Lions.

Jordan DiZenzo made a big save on Goucher's
Dylan Zook from point-blank range. Albright cleared and soon Cetrone beat his defender for a 3-1 lead.
The Lions scored just eight seconds later as A. Potter won the faceoff and drove right down to score. Albright did one better in the third quarter following a Stump goal, as Meador won the faceoff and some quick passing through P. Potter to Cetrone resulted in another strike just seven seconds later.
A. Potter made it 6-2 with 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter. DiZenzo came up with another good save on Zook at the other end.
Peter Hayes went in the cage for Goucher in the second half and stopped the first four shots on goal he saw, before Albright struck twice in seven seconds. T.J Holston's man-up tally made it 10-4 at the end of the third quarter.
Freshman
Ray Shalvoy scored his first collegiate goal, off an assist from
Tyler Strayline, to make it 13-6 late in the game.
Connor Grant capped the scoring, with an assist from
Nicholas Pisko.
Albright improves to 7-4 and will travel to Lycoming on Thursday.
