Box ScoreAlbright men's tennis took on Lycoming College today and swept the Warriors on all courts 9-0.
Lycoming arrived shorthanded with only five players, giving Albright a 2-0 advantage as the Albright men took the lead and ran with it, beating the Lycoming men from the top of the lineup all the way to the bottom.
Freshmen
Matthew Muoio and
Ken Richardson crushed their Warrior opponents at first doubles 8-0, bringing their paired record to 5-2 for the spring season.
Ian Moore and
Thomas Werner also defeated Lycoming's second doubles. After a competitive match where Lycoming battled to come back from a score of 7-0, the Albright pair remained aggressive and kept their win with a final score of 8-4.
Muoio, a freshman at first singles, defeated his Lycoming opponent 6-1, 6-0, bringing his singles record to an impressive 6-1 for the spring tennis season.
Richardson, at second singles, and
Sean Purcell, at fourth singles, both played great tennis in two quick sets, beating their opponents with the same score of 6-2, 6-2.
Albright's Moore defeated Lycoming's
Joe Amento in a closer matchup at third singles but brought Albright a win of 6-4, 6-3.
Cain Walter completed the undefeated match for Albright at fifth singles by winning 6-3, 6-1.
This win over Lycoming gives the Albright men a 5-6, 1-4 record for the season as they prepare to take on Bryn Athyn College for their next match on Friday, April 25.
