READING, Pa. -- Freshman
Kellie Hill notched a career-high 10 kills leading Albright to a 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Alvernia on Wednesday in the Bollman Center in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both schools.
Albright, which has won three of its last four matches, won for the second time in as many tries on its home court and improved to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Alvernia had won two straight entering the match, but dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play with the defeat.
Hill (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) recorded her first double-figure kill match to lead the Lions. She also had a .471 attack percentage and added one dig.
Brandy Blimline added nine kills, five digs, two blocks and two service aces, while
Marisa Bartone and
Cheyenne Robinett each had six kills for the Lions.
Caitlin Klotzbach had 14 digs to anchor the Albright defense, while
Claudia Guise had 28 assists in directing the offense.
Kristen Sipling had 10 kills to lead Alvernia, while Liz Newman and McKenna Achenbach each added six kills.
Albright will seek to remain undefeated at home when it hosts Immaculata at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 11) in the Bollman Center.
