READING, Pa. -- Despite two goals from senior
Vitali Zaluha, the Albright men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Washington (Md.) on Saturday at Shirk Stadium in a non-conference match.
Zaluha, who leads the Lions with four goals on the season, got the Lions on the board in the first half when he found the back of the net on a header off the cross from
Austin Phillips giving Albright a 1-0 lead at the 9:44 mark of the half.
After Washington tied the score at 1-1 on a goal from Michael Holowesko, Zaluha put Albright back in front when he scored unassisted at the 25:11 mark of the first half.
The Shoremen (4-1) tied the game just before halftime when Joseph Fili scored on an assist from Dimitri Kaliakin.
Washington then scored the game winner when Bob Libera converted a rebound opportunity at the 74:42 mark of the match putting the Shoremen ahead for the first time in the match.
Peter Bockarie and Zaluha led Albright with four shots each, while
Shawn Murphy notched two shots.
Austin Aldinger made four saves in goal for Albright.
Albright dropped to 2-2-1 on the season with the loss and will return to action on Monday (Sept. 14) when it hosts Richard Stockton at 7 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
