RADNOR, Pa. --
Austin Phillips and
Vitali Zaluha each scored a goal and the Albright men's soccer team held off a late charge from Cabrini to post a 3-2 victory on Wednesday at ER Dixon Field.
Zaluha got the Lions on the board in the first half as he drilled a direct kick from 25 yards out at the 2:40 mark putting Albright ahead 1-0.
After Cabrini tied the score on a goal by AJ Bishop, Phillips put Albright ahead to stay when he took a long ball from
Austin Marich and beat the keeper for a 2-1 lead at the 50:20 mark of the match.
Albright extended the lead to 3-1 on an own goal at the 53:16 mark of the match.
Cabrini cut the lead to 3-2 on a goal by Bobby Kane at the 66:09 mark, but Albright goalie
Austin Aldinger made two saves down the stretch to secure the win for the Lions.
The victory halts a three-match losing streak for the Lions and improves their record to 3-3-1 on the season.
