READING, Pa. -- Sophomore
Omari Ringgold scored a game-high 17 points, but Arcadia defeated Albright 66-46 in a Commonwealth Conference game on Wednesday in the Bollman Center.
Ringgold was 6-of-14 from the floor and 2-of-5 from the three-point line, but was the only Albright player to reach double figures in scoring.
Gilberto Benz and
Jalen Harris each had seven points for the Lions, while
Evan Ward finished with six points and six rebounds.
Arcadia defeated Albright for just the second time in the all-time series as Joe Brown scored 12 points to lead three players in double figures. Jose Figueroa added 11 points and Ryan Kelley had 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Knights.
Arcadia used a smothering defensive effort to improve to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Knights limited Albright to just 30.4 percent shooting in the first half on its way to a 32-16 lead at the intermission.
Albright (6-8, 2-4 Commonwealth)Â shot a blistering 58.8 percent in the second half, but Arcadia nearly matched that effort by shooting 51.9 percent in the second half.
The 46 points scored by Albright represents its fewest points since a 50-44 loss to Alvernia on Dec. 1, 2010.
Albright held an 11-10 lead when Ringgold scored inside with 11:37 to play in the first half, but the Knights responded with a 10-0 run to take a 20-11 lead with 5:54 remaining in the opening half.
Ringgold answered with a three-pointer to cut the lead to 20-14, but John Landro countered with a jumper to increase the lead to 22-14 with 5:06 to play in the opening stanza.
Casey Burke scored inside to bring Albright to within 22-16 with 4:42 to play in the first, but Arcadia closed the first half on a 10-0 run highlighted by back-to-back three-pointers by Brown to take a 32-16 lead into the intermission.
Albright got to within 34-22 on a three-point play by Ringgold with 18:19 remaining in the game, but Arcadia used an 8-1 run to stretch the lead to 42-23 with 15:24 remaining.
Arcadia took its largest lead of the game at 63-40 on a basket by Figueroa with 2:29 remaining in the second half.
Albright will return to action on Saturday (Jan. 17) when it visits Hood for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
