Smith Ties School Record in Victory over Immaculata

READING, Pa. -- Senior Amanda Smith tied the Albright single-season record for goals in a season by recording three goals in the Lions 6-0 victory over Immaculata on Wednesday at Shirk Stadium.

The three goals increased Smith's season total to 17 and tied the school record held by Angela Gardner set during the 2005 season. For Smith, it marked her fourth hat trick of the season.

Sophomore Tracy Snyder had a goal and two assists and Kasey Neiderer and Mackenzie Faight also added goals for the Lions.

Albright, which won for the eighth time in its last 10 games, improved to 9-5 overall on the season. Immaculata dropped to 0-14 on the year.

Albright dominated the Mighty Macs as it outshot the visitors 41-1 and had 15 penalty corners to only two for Immaculata.

Aileen Taylor earned the victory in goal for the Lions as she played the first period. Alicia Moore completed the shutout for the Lions as she played the final 35 minutes in goal.

Smith got the Lions on the board at the 9:41 mark of the first period when she tapped in a rebound giving Albright a 1-0 lead.

Snyder scored her 13th goal of the season off an assist from Smith to increase the lead to 2-0 at the 24:49 mark of the first.

Smith tallied her second goal of the game when she deflected in a shot by Sam Chichearo at the 25:36 mark to up the margin to 3-0.

Neiderer scored just 2:44 into the second period off a pass from Snyder giving Albright a 4-0 lead.

Smith then got the record-tying goal off a beautiful play by Snyder. Snyder raced down the right sideline and carried the ball towards the goal and fed Smith right in front of the cage for a tap-in goal at the 38:36 mark of the period.

Faight capped the scoring for the Lions when she scored off her own rebound at the 54:54 mark to make it 6-0 Albright.

The Lions return to action on Saturday (Oct. 17) when they face Lebanon Valley in a crucial MAC Commonwealth game at 12 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
