READING, Pa. – Junior
Natalie Wilson scored in the 31st minute and
Payton Bogatch and the Albright defense made it stand as the Lions notched their fourth consecutive victory with a 1-0 MAC Commonwealth win against Widener on Wednesday in Shirk Stadium.
The four straight wins, all coming via shutout, marks the first time since 2012 that Albright has posted four straight wins and the first time since the 2005 season the Lions have posted four consecutive shutouts.
Bogatch, the reigning MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week and the ECAC South Rookie of the Week, made six saves in recording her fourth straight shutout victory. She extended her scoreless streak to 315:00 on Wednesday.
Wilson, who is second on the team with five goals, took a feed from
Emily Saxon and beat the keeper at the 31:19 mark of the first period to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
In the 57th minute, the Pride's Stefanie Mindnich had a chance to get Widener on the board, but Bogatch made two incredible back-to-back point-blank saves to keep the Lions in front.
Albright, which improved to 6-4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, maintained pressure in the second period as it outshot the Pride 8-5.
Emily Sousa led the Lions with five shots on the evening, while Wilson,

Kennedy Lutz,
Dylan Shipe,
Emily Diaz,
Morgan Valera,
Brittany Lutz and
Summer Slusser each had one shot.
Widener dropped to 4-6-1 overall and 0-2 in the MAC Commonwealth with the loss.
Albright returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 10) when it hosts Hood at 5:30 p.m. in a MAC Commonwealth match.
