HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Sophomore
DeJuan Smith scored a team-high 12 points, but the Albright men's basketball team dropped a 59-47 non-conference decision to Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday.
Smith finished the game 6-of-8 from the floor and also added five rebounds and four steals to lead the Lions.
Vince Lombardi,
Omari Ringgold and
Brandon Lindsay each added six points for Albright which dropped to 1-3 overall on the season.
Penn State Harrisburg, which remained undefeated on the season at 4-0, was led by Jazmon Harris who scored a game-high 16 points. Jourdon Wilson added 12 points and Arick Sodini finished with 11 points.
Penn State Harrisburg shot only 40.4 percent from the floor, but limited Albright to just 35.4 percent shooting for the game.
Penn State Harrisburg jumped out to an 8-2 lead after a pair of free throws by Clinton Asalu with 15:41 to play in the opening period.
Albright used a 6-0 run, which included a pair of baskets by Smith, to tie the game at 8-8 with 13:36 remaining in the first period.
Penn State-Harrisburg then ripped off a 15-0 run to take a 23-8 lead with 6:49 left before halftime.
The Lions fought back again on the strength of a 10-0 run, which cut the lead to 23-18 with 3:27 left in the first period. Lombardi and Ringgold each scored four points during the run to get Albright back into the game.
Wilson upped the Penn State Harrisburg lead to 25-18 with a layup, but
Johnathan Amoroso answered with a layup with 32 seconds remaining in the opening half to cut the Nittany Lions lead to 25-20.
Wilson opened the second half with a jumper, but
Calvert Gantz countered with a pair of free throws to cut the Penn State Harrisburg lead to 27-22 with 19:12 to play in the game.
Penn State Harrisburg used a 10-0 run to take control of the game. Back-to-back three pointers by Harris and Sodini gave the Nittany Lions a 37-22 lead with 16:58 to play in the game.
A layup by Ringgold and a dunk by Gantz cut the lead to 37-26 with 15:06 left, but Penn State Harrisburg responded with a 9-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 45-26 with 10:53 left in the game.
Albright was unable to get the deficit under 12 points for the remainder of the contest.
Albright will return to action on Dec. 2 when it opens MAC Commonwealth play against Hood at 8 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
